The Aquamedic Calcium reactor KR 400 is a sealed system operating at a very low flow rate. Within the reactor calcium and calcium bicarbonate ions are release by the controlled dosing of CO2 gas. This provides the calcium hydrocarbonate that hard corals require to build their exoskeletons. The filter can be installed in almost any position, inside or outside the aquarium or the cabinet. To provide the water flow, we recommend our SP 1500 dosing pump. The reactor is filled with Hydrocarbonate – a pure form of calcium carbonate with an extremely low phosphate level. For optimum control and the most economic use of the CO2 gas, we recommend the reactor be used in conjunction with a pH controller or pH computer. The reactor is already equipped to accept our specific pressurised electrode.

Aquamedic Calcium Reactor KR 1000 is for the supply of dissolved calcium to reef aquaria up to 1000 litres (c. 250 gallons)
The Calcium Reactor is a closed system designed for universal use. It can be operated on a bypass system, independent of the water level in the aquarium, or alternatively be installed in the filter sump. It includes a large volume (10 litres or c. 2.5 gallons) of Hydrocarbonate and an integrated circulation pump that features the patented Aqua Medic needle wheel. By adding CO2, the pH value in the Calcium Reactor falls and the Hydrocarbonate is dissolved. Even with a low flow rate of 1 to 4 l/hr (c. 0,25 to 1 gph), a large amount of dissolved calcium enters into the aquarium, which is assimilated by the animals. The Calcium Reactor has an integral port to accommodate a PG 13.5 threaded electrode to measure the pH value and an SP 3000 dosing pump for controlled water flow.

The Calciumreactor KR 5000, like our smaller models, is designed as a closed system. An integral pump provides internal water circulation. A PG 13.5 threaded port accepts a electrode for measuring and controlling the pH within the vessel. The reactor has a volume of 30 litres (c. 8 gallons), and is supplied with a 20 kilogram (c. 44 pounds) bucket of Hydrocarbonate. Depending on the demands of the aquarium, a flow rate of between 12 and 30 l/hr (c. 3 to 8 gph) will be required.
